Wooden Bottle Stoppers (2016)

In this independent project, I decided to further explore spindle turning on the lathe to create studies in the form of wooden bottle stoppers.

To display the stoppers, I created a holder out of walnut using spline miter joints. The splines are made out of maple.

To create the bottle stoppers, I drilled and threaded a hole at the bottom of the turned pieces. I was then able to attach a screw and the stopper. I also experimented with turning two pieces of wood that I planed and glued together.

The following bottle stoppers were made out of blocks of cherry.

All wood parts were finished with salad bowl oil.
